If you’ve been planning to buy a new LCD panel or TV, you might want to factor in the effect of the earthquake in Taiwan on LCD prices.

Two companies (Chi Mei Optoelectronics and HannStar Display) have closed their production lines, and they account for one out of every 6 LCD panels in the world.

Not only that, but it can take 1-2 years to restart production.

So if you thought by waiting, LCD prices will go down further, they might not, and you might want to settle for a smaller screen.
