Samsung announced that they are going to be producing low-power “green” memory chips based on a 40 nanometer process.
This can save up to 35% in energy cost.
But that’s only for the memory. If you look at it on the basis of an entire system, the savings is about 10%. Combined into millions of computers sold, that’s still significant, though.
The low-power green DDR3 chips are initially targeted to companies running large numbers of servers.
