Bruce Perens is shutting down his website, technocrat.net, which was devoted to discussing technology policy.
It’s sad to see it go. I think one thing he could have done is make the site look nicer. People seem to unconsciously appreciate the fact that you’ve taken some time to design a site. I think readers think that that means you take them seriously.
The domain currently redirects to Peren’s personal blog. I think that could do with some sprucing up as well.
One alarming thing is that Perens mentioned that the community that formed around the site scared him at times. It’s pretty bad when a bunch of trolls set the tone for a site, basically leading to its demise, a la Kuroshin.

Hey there just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same outcome.
