Mashable is reporting on a new prototype laptop by Samsung that has a 14-inch screen that you can see through.
That’s right. The laptop’s screen is 40% transparent.
How cool is this?
One of the comments at Engadget, where the laptop was originally reported, said another possible use for the technology would be a kind of hologram. If you think about it, that makes sense. Just put up a glass panel in the middle of a room, and make a person appear on it. It would be 2-D, but that’s I think that’s good enough.

Don’t get me wrong. I think it is really cool! But what is the point? I just think it would be a distraction to the person using the laptop.
True, it’s somewhat pointless in the current incarnation. I think we’ll see some serious medical and other industrial applications, though.
Also, you’ll see a big version of this in malls as a greeting tool.
Another thing which hasn’t quite been made clear is: can people on the other side see stuff on your screen? Or is it one-way only?
Wow. That is very cool. So there may not be a huge point behind it, but it is a very very cool laptop screen. Thanks for the post!

I was waiting for this to be released, but up to now it is not released to public use. Maybe because the transparent screen is so fragile, and durability is the biggest issue. However, it still looks stylish.
