The upcoming WordPress 2.9 release has a lot of new features. Here are 10 that may make your life easier:

1. Trash status for posts, pages, and comments (includes restore and permanent delete)
2. Allow user registration to be enabled by an XMLRPC client
3. rel=’canonical’ for singular pages
4. Scroll back to the same location after saving a file in the Plugin and Theme editors
5. Add means of automatically repairing tables
6. Image editing: crop images
7. TinyMCE 3.2.7
8. Separate fields for ‘image alt’ and ‘image caption’ in Media uploader
9. Media embedding made easier
10. Minify admin CSS
