The New York Post is reporting that Google is afraid of Microsoft’s new search engine, Bing. The paper is reporting that Google co-founder Sergey Brin has put together a crack team to upgrade their search engine. Microsoft is claiming to focus Bing on giving better results for shopping, travel, health and local searches.

Given that the New York Post likes to run sensational headlines and articles, I would say it’s premature to assume that Google has panicked. But it is good if Google feels the weight of some competition, if only to prevent hegemony in the search sphere.
