Lightening is the Calendar extension for Mozilla Thunderbird, the e-mail client from the same folks who brought you Firefox.  For some reason or another, Lightening doesn’t seem to allow recurring tasks to be be marked as done for each individual instance of the task.

For example, if you need to to turn in a TPS report every Friday, you’d set up a recurring weekly task. But after you mark the task as done the first time, it will always display as “100% done” in the task list. Not only that, but when you get a reminder for the task for the second or third week, after clicking “Details” from the Reminder window, the task detail shows the task as 100% completed, even if you never marked it as such for the current week. But even if you click Save and Close for the task detail, you’ll continue to get reminder notices for the task (if you set reminders).

I think this is different from most people’s conception of how recurring tasks should work, and I don’t think I am alone. See here, here, and here.

I hope Mozilla fixes this in the next release.

  2. Howdy this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
